Synopsis

Product Description
In Time is legendary Northwest singer-songwriter Danny O'Keefe's first new recording in nine years. Good things take time. Here is a collection of twelve songs that resonate deeply in the heart and the mind long after their first listening. The First Time leads off the album and reminds us all of that 'first time' as we were awkwardly learning about love. Time is the central theme of the album and the continuum of time flows backwards and forwards through these songs. As always, longing is a key element in Danny's songs and here it's reflected in elements missing and missed in one's life. (We're All) Strangers Here, co-written with Michael McDonald, is a haunting look at a woman through her husband's eyes (or is it her eyes?). Unspoken reminds us how hard it is to say the most meaningful things to those we love. Sleep (Anywhere On Earth You Are) was recorded by Alan Jackson on his Like Red On A Rose CD and here Danny performs the song as it was originally written by him and Tim Krekel. It's a moving song that will resonate with anyone who has been out on the road too long and would give anything to be with the missing One. Last Call is a song that should be the universal theme at closing time.

"This release is much quieter than Danny's last CD, " Dont Ask " ( Which I also loved ). Beautiful songs, great lyrics.

A must own for Danny O'Keefe fans, particularly those who enjoy his softer, more introspective songs."

"Danny O'Keefe - In Time - Bicameral Songs

There are too few singer/ songwriters the calibre of Danny O'Keefe. He was having his first and only hit `Goodtime Charlie's Got The Blues' when I met him in NY in September '72 and at that time everyone wanted to know who he was. I've been a big fan ever since and though a wide spectrum of artists from Donny Hathaway, Elvis Presley, the Blind Boys of Alabama to Jackson Browne and Bonnie Raitt have recorded his songs and he was well respected in the Music Biz, Danny never rose to the heights that one so talented deserved to. O'Keefe was where it all really came together followed by a series of great albums including Breezy Stories, So Long Harry Truman, and even after leaving Atlantic, Warner issued the superb American Roulette and Global Blues. After this there was a 10-year gap in which The Day To Day was issued on the poorly distributed Coldwater Records. This album was reissued with minor changes in 1989 as Redux (the first on CD). A further 10 years passed and Miramar issued Runnin' From The Devil and re-issued The Day To Day. Then in 2003 came Don't Ask, a shared project with Bill Braun. Only then did a couple of classic compilations appear from Rhino and Raven (both also highly recommended). In Time was released last year and it's really great to have a dozen new great songs to celebrate and enjoy. This fine album was written between 2000-2008 (with a number of different co-authors) and recorded with producer Mick Conley in Nashville from 2005. All the songs from `The First Time' to `A Bedtime Story' relate a different part of the journey. I particularly like `Maybe Next Time', `When You Come Back Down', `(We're All) Strangers Here' `Last Call' and `A Bedtime Story'. As his career may have proved, Danny O'Keefe is not for everyone but if you've been around the block a few times and are not looking for sunshine in everything, his poetry may touch and inspire you. It's always done so to me. I see Danny's recently updated his website [...]for those mature readers who would like to find out more about this unique artist. In the meantime give

In Time a listen. Peter Burns [...]"

"This is a great cd. Danny has never been better. Soul and artistry, great musicianship, poetry, melodies and even the engineering is spectacular. There are so many disappointing records but this is one that just surprises me with so much to offer. You will love it."
