Synopsis

Product Description
Daniel Ash has one of the most impressive resumes in rock history. With Love and Rockets, he fashioned such alternative staples as "No New Tail to Tell," "Ball of Confusion," and the 1989 Top Five smash "So Alive." With Bauhaus he delivered "Bela Legosi's Dead," and "Go" from Tones on Tail is a classic. Come Alive is live history of Daniel's career to date. But this is not an end note of Daniel?s career, only a chapter. With the triumphant Bauhaus performance at Coachella 2005 count on Daniel Ash to keep innovating and delivering music that is far from the main stream.

CD Reviews

Perfect.
Under It | Portland, OR | 07/31/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Come Alive has been in my cd player without interruption since it arrived in my mailbox about a week ago. A million times better in quality (the performance itself as well as the recorded audio) and song selection, this new independent release from Daniel Ash eclipses the recently released So aLive Love and Rocket's live album. That's a big statement for me, as Love and Rockets are my favorite band, and have held that throne for me for about fifteen years).

The band that Daniel Ash assembled for this tour (which I saw in Portland, Or) was fantastic, and I think it shows that Daniel is very proud of his work. He is totally the star here, and he plays it up with some excellent guitar work and great vocals. He's in a good mood, and he's loving it.

The tracklist is identical to the setlist, as far as I remember. The versions of American Dream and Mirror People are highlights for me, as are the songs from his most recent studio album. It took me a while to appreciate "Daniel Ash," the last solo album, as it got lost in too much of a bad drum n bass (or whatever~) sort of thing--my biggest problem being the boring drum loops and repetitive programming which did little else but make the songs drag on a bit and sound, well, boring. I knew the songs were good at their core, and the live versions on Come Alive prove that. Daniel needs to rock out, and he needs to rock out with a band. That is what he does best and it is evident here.

I would encourage any fan of Love and Rockets to buy this album in an instant. You not only get selections from Daniel's three solo albums, but also from Love and Rockets, Bauhaus and Tones on Tail. It's also a good introduction to his entire body of work.

Now, all I really want is a live dvd of this tour. [Fingers crossed]."
