Glam metal from Greece featuring, and supported by, Jeff Sco

""Danger Angel" is a brand new 80s-influenced hard rock/ glam metal band from Greece. This self titled album is their debut released by the American record label "Perris records" a specialist in this particular genre. What separates this glam metal/hard rock band from other 2010 newcomers of the scene is the fact that they are supported by American AOR icon Jeff Scott Soto who also guests on the album, contributing lead vocals on "Never let you go" (track 6).
Getting a little bit more into details "Danger Angel" is very much influenced by American rock; imagine a mixture of 1985 glam metal with the bold/ flashy AOR sound of the same era. Specifically the "Danger Angel" sound is built on big guitar riffs, melodic keyboards, really extensive six string solos, twin guitar harmonics, furious shredding and AOR-ish vocals.
So it would be fair to say that "Danger Angel" utilizes the best elements of the 80s American rock scene to create this substantial, hot rocking debut album. And the guys have really studied this rock genre; as an example I would like to stand on their release party (20 Feb 2010) where apart from the album, the band performed a second live set with Jeff Scott Soto himself on lead vocals (!) playing the legendary singer's hits impeccably. So we are clearly looking at very experienced performers: Guitarists Ethan Chionos and Spiros Fousekis, bass player Rudy Rallis and drummer "Antonis Veneris" are the more mature members of the band, joined by the much younger yet just as competent, George Lignos on Keyboards and lead singer Jimmy Cage.
I suppose, even the fact that the "Perris records" decided to sign "Danger Angel", says something about the quality of the band; and I have to comment that it is great for the album to reach the American market at an acceptable price, rather than having imported, possibly overpriced versions. If you are a fan of Glam metal, AOR or 80s rock in general; this is a guaranteed and JSS-approved buy for you. If you are planning on getting the new "Wig Wam" album buy this one as well for a real treat!
Favorite tracks include "Com' on rock me", "Runaway angel", "Poison dreams", "Rebel Son", "Never let you go" and "Hangover".
