Contemporary Afro-Cuban and Latin dance music flavors the soundtrack to Dance with Me, a movie about (what else?) dancing. The upbeat numbers swing: Electra's "Jibaro" gets a lively remix treatment from Paul Oakenfold, Black Machine provide the funky "Jazz Machine," and Elvis Crespo's "Suavemente" will have the dance floor sweating. Overall, with the exception of slow-dance numbers "Want You, Miss You, Love You" from Jon Secada and the aforementioned "You Are Home," Dance with Me is a predictable but fun mix. --Jason Verlinde« less

If this cd doesn't make you wanna get off your arse and dance, then NOTHING will. Excellent latin infused beats; sexy.

"I bought the Dance With Me CD after I saw the movie last summer and I have not stopped playing it. It is the best soundtrack I have ever heard. "You Are My Home/Refugio de Amor is one of my many favorite songs on the cd. Vanessa L. Williams and Chayanne make a great team. They were brilliant. Eres Todo En Mi by Ana Gabriel is sung so passionately, that you don't have to speak spanish to feel every emotion in that song. This is the most exceptional cd that I will ever own. Kudos to the producers of the cd. WELL DONE!!!!"
Loved it!One fo the best purchases I've made on a soundtrack

"I bought this CD, almost immediately after I saw "Dance With Me," in the theaters, back in 1998. Though, the film left me cold, the songs continued to sizzle in my memory, and resonated with my steps on the dance floor.
Some of the best songs on this album include: "Magalenha," a great Sergio Mendes tune that was utilized in the dance competition sequence in the film. It is a lively samba, and gets you up on your feet and moving. "Atrevete (No Puedes Conmigo)" by Dark Latin Groove is an awesome, sizzling salsa, combining the fiery vocals of Huey Dunbar, with the salsa/reggae elements of Fragancia and James "Da Barba." What a shame that those guys broke up........Overall, this CD combines soft ballads with up-tempo dance numbers. It's great background music for a party.
The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because of the luke warm bonus cuts ("Suavemente" remix with Elvis Crespo--which sounds too repetitive and "Pantera en Libertad" by Monica Naranjo, which just sounds like she is screaming--no real melody).
You definitely need to get this album, as well, because it is just too flavorful to resist!
