Synopsis

Album Description
The songs on Hart's second CD Apocalypse Now and Then are typical of his lyrics which combine dark humor and satire with social commentary. Peter Berryman has said of his humorous material "I love it! Puts me in mind of such folks as Christine Lavin and the Therapy Sisters." Doctor Demento called his songs "very timely...quite amusing." The CD is receiving airplay on radio stations from Maine to Florida and in the Midwest, and 2 songs have been featured on National Public Radio's Car Talk program. The Worcester (MA) Phoenix nominated it for Best CD and Hart for Best Solo Artist and Best Folk Artist, calling the CD "a crisp balance of well-thought truths and absolute absurdities."

CD Reviews

Socially subconscious ironic humor

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Dan Hart, heard on "Car Talk" and "Dr. Demeto", is a throwback to the artfully lyrical yet socially conscious singer/songwriters of the 60's. His funny songs are the ones that get the most radio play but his more touching songs, like "Captain, Captain" are the ones I most enjoy. He entertains and makes you think (all in the same song ) and there are some, like "Spy at my School", that you may want to listen to over and over again, noticing something different each time. I highly recommend this album and his first album, "To a Silent Drum", if you can get ahold of it."
