Like finding a trunk of old 80s hits you never heard

"DF straddles perfectly the line between reverence and originality with this massive debut collection. No filler, no introductions, no interludes...this is pound for pound more music on one record than you're likely to find in popular music today.
Of course, none of his music sounds like popular music today. DF's style is strictly old school 80s electro-funk, with a twist of California underground thrown in for flavor. His influences are plain - Prince, Cameo, Slave...that list goes on - but he knows when to pull back on the hero worship and insert himself into the process. The blend is a refreshing party of tracks you'd swear you've heard before, but haven't. This collection is like finding a foot locker of 80s hits you never heard and finding they still hold-up.
Don't feel like if you weren't born before 1989 you won't dig this. This is awesome party music, and if you can put this on at a party and no one moves, you're at the wrong party."

"I typically never write reviews, however his album literally brought a tear to my eye listening to it.
This album is just about flawless. Nothing but all types of different 80's funk and 80's synth soul beats that bump hard. Some songs feature vocoder choruses and verses, and Dam Funk even comes in on "Thank You For..." in his natural vocal on a really exquisite slow jam on the first disc. The second disc features almost no vocals however does not hold back on the hardcore funk, experiemental pop and spaced out tunes. There are some hints of West Coast flavor on one or two tracks however Dam never ventures too far from underground Linn's or various usages of Yamaha.
I definitley recommend this purchase, just about every song is top notch."
