"I've previously heard 'of' and seen this title in music stores and available online before, but this was my first chance I ever had to check it out for myself. 'Divided Alien...' is (didn't realize at first) a 77 minute (a double vinyl lp's worth) of a live album on CD reissue of a performance that the Gong mainman Daevid Allen had played in summer, 1980 at the Squat Theater in New York. As I listened to this CD a 2nd time, I had found this title is simply too experimental and just too abstract for my taste. Don't get me wrong, if you like ALL or even most of the other solo efforts that Allen has put out, you should get more out of this CD than I did. The music is good, just failed to trip my trigger. Some of the cuts here I sort of dug were "Fast Father", "Sex Is A Careless Sea", maybe "Strong Woman" and the nine-minute closer "Smile" (disc's lengthiest track). Line-up: Daevid Allen-guitar,loops&vocals,Bill Laswell-bass,Fred Maher-drums and Bill Bacon-percussion.
