""Cumberland Mountain Home", Black Mountain Records 9901, by the Cumberland Highlanders, is truly one of those rare projects that DEMANDS your undivided attention, start to end. The project also includes an invaluable 20 page booklet of liner notes, and very tasteful, well thought out, high quality photos and personal insight into the artists, their backgrounds and their personalities. The liner notes are, hands down, the best I have ever seen. I would guess that these excellent liner notes alone, involved as much planning and consideration, as did the actual recording. I say this because, when you listen to the individual tunes, you are quite aware that these exceptionally talented musicians are not "working" at what they are doing, they are very comfortable, very confident, enjoying wholeheartedly, the musical abilites that the Creator has gifted them, and the desire to share this wonderful gift with others. This is certainly not "work", nor a task, for them, it's a playground. The kick offs, breaks and instrumentation, are all absolutely impeccable. The relaxing vocals and harmonies warm the heart, and soothe the soul. This project is mandatory for anyone who loves and appreciates Bluegrass music. These experienced musicians have already, individually, paid their dues to Bluegrass, and are well respected and admired in the Bluegrass community. They have nothing more to prove. Their musical ability speaks for itself. It speaks for ALL of us who are proud of our heritage and of our sincere love of Bluegrass music."

"One of the best bluegrass albums in years, especially with the legendary Ralph Stanley and the soon to be legendary voice of Russel Wilson!"

"Among the many Bluegrass "Voices" of today, one often searches in vain for that traditional sound that is the true mountain music that Bluegrass was intended to be. That sound has been mastered by the Cumberland Highlanders in their new CD "Cumberland Mountain Home"... It goes beyond the hearing of the ears and reaches right into your very soul. From "Cumberland Mountain Home" to "The Stanleys Will Sing Again" this is one of the truely great CD's I have ever had the pleasure to listen to. "This music is purely from the heart and soul of these musicians. The album could not better exemplify what bluegrass music means to it's musicians and it's fans. If you are reading this tidbit in order to entice a purchase then take my advice. Be brave! Add this CD to your top 25 favorite CD selections. Ralph Stanley's guest appearance is another draw. Personally, I can never get enough of Uncle Ralph. I can't get into the technical aspects of the musicianship on the record mainly because it doesn't matter. The record speaks to me. And I let it do all the work. May I sneak in 6 stars here? Thank you, Christian"
