"Comparing Cult of Luna to ISIS is not lazy. In fact, both bands being the most notable desciples of Neurosis, they are sort of pan-Atlantic counterparts of each other. The vocals, the fall from light to dark and soft to heavy, and the overall buildup are a few things the two bands share a lot in common.
Cult of Luna are actually heavier, and their forays into melody are slightly different from Aaron Turner and his crew. The song Circle starts out as a bizarre country-influenced little ditty with lots of a twang guitar before turning into a dark Spaghetti western sounding segment before finally climaxing as a devestating riff composition. This music reminds me of what a supernova would feel like.
If you're a fan ISIS, then you'll love Cult of Luna"

"If you want a heavy dose of sludge, then look no further. The CULT OF LUNA is atmospheric slow-core with multilayed guitars to get that oxygen-free density that only a few bands know how to do. This is their 2nd CD, and my favorite. It is definately their heaviest. Everything they do is really exceptional though, so don't stop at this disc.
Buy this for the sludge appeal... It's not really stoner rock sludge, it's heavy sludge like ISIS on painkillers."
