Sit back. Relax. Blow your mind.

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Cul de Sac have always pushed the sonic envelope, but unfortunately their studio stuff always seems to take the magic of spontaneity out of their brilliance (witness the difference between the demo version of "Into the Cone of Cold" on the "Succour" compilation and the studio version on "Crashes to Light"). This album (actually a collection of rehearsal tapes) captures the band at their most spontaneous - extending the excellent "Doldrums" into a ten-minute excursion to the darkest reaches of the subconscious. The sound quality is kind of cruddy, but the performances are stellar.Essential listening for fans of Damo Suzuki-era Can, or people who love dark, strange instrumental freakishness."
