CD Reviews

More French fun

"Loved Waves I and, after reading the previous review, I didn't have high hopes about Waves II. Turns out I was pleasantly surprised. This is more fun French house by those spaced out kids at Crydamoure. The stand-outs on this compilation include: Deelat's "Wetness Anthem," when the opening bars of this infectious track get ahold of you all you'll want is to turn it up, get out of your chair and shake that thing. Archigram keeps the street party humming with "Carnaval." Le Knight Club brilliantly apply their filters and instinctive dance beats to old school R&B samples with "Soul Bells." Finally, Play Paul hits one out of the park with the splendid "Spaced Out 2," a forceful yet fun piece of clever dance heaven that you won't want to end. Now, I could see that you might be disappointed if you had already picked up the vinyl singles and, frankly, there are a few tracks on here that you'll be skipping. That said, if you love Braxe and Falke, Cassius, Daft Punk, et al, this is essential listening. I'm giving Waves II 5 stars because even the mis-fires here are better than most house dreck out there. Nobody does it better. You've come to the right place, baby, Crydamoure will send you higher."
Brilliant House Music

""Waves II" is one of the greatest dance compilations out there. The French House on this CD is as good sitting chilling as it is pumping on your hi-fi."Waves II" is the sequel to "Waves", an earlier Crydamoure compilation that features more tracks and arguably better mixing between them. However, I prefer 'II' as it has more funky basslines and disco loops than the first - and every single track is great. The first CD loses it's way a little towards the end. Each track on 'Waves II' is ultra-repetative but strangely captivating. Taking minute samples from Disco and pop records, repeating them over and over, adding a funky bassline and applying an unmistakable French House beat is what Crydamoure are best at. It's not hard if you know how, BUT THESE GUYS KNOW PERFECTLY. Standouts include "Rhumba" and "Soul Bells" by Le Knight Club (the latter being fabulous funky filtered Disco) and Play Paul's "Spaced Out 2". This will blow your mind (as will "Spaced Out", which can be found on "Waves" :-)No, I'm not a salesperson for Crydamoure but if you like House music and disco, buy this CD at once."

"I've followed Daft Punk and surrounding Roule/Crydamoure artists. As a 24 year old American in spite of all going on I like to find music that defines where my head is at....look at the title to explain this music its beautiful....Its sad that more people over here are not exposed or have not gone deep enough...Personally I like all of the songs....but Play Paul's jams on here are incredible...especially Holly Ghostz.....Listen close to the last 15 seconds and tell me if you hear the voice........
