PHIL Y. from CENTERVILLE, OH Reviewed on 11/14/2009...
I have been a fan of the Crusaders since their inception. Their innovative, unique jazz style will easily capture your ears. Joe Sample, Stix Hooper and the rest of the band are all talented in their own right and have gone on to produce their own solo albums. Sample's solo CDs are exceptional. I bought this 3 CD set for their later years where their songs are more mainstream jazz, but I still love all the oldies they did, too. If you want a Crusaders album, this is it!

"I have been a Crusaders fan for almost 30 years and this compilation is a must-have (to wax trite) for anyone who wishes to hear the essence of this band. While the members have changed, albeit slightly, the soul of this band has never changed and this three-CD set is worth every penny (i was fortunate in that i got mine when I pledged money to my local National Public Radio, but it was well worth the pledge!).
From the first blast of horn on "The Young Rabbits" to "So Far Away" to Randy Crawford's marvelous vocals on "Street Life," this presentation should be in any music afficienando's collection!"
Excellent collection

"The Crusaders were so consistent over the years and that is what makes this collection superior. The only alternative is to get all their recordings but there are many over 30 years. If you want one Crusaders offering this a no brainer.
All the tracks are great. Amazing for a 3 CD collection. And it represents their different phases well.
The only tracks I would have liked to have seen in addition are "Soul Shadows" and the live version of "So Far Away".
