"Funky fresh, and musically melodic. The comparison with the Roots IS kind of inevitable, but once you note it, you're quickly swept past it. Mission's mc's are on a much more playful tip. Somewhere between Redman, KMD, and the Coup, these musicians represent for the masses and can't help but remind you of those magical moments when your cousins used to battle in a cypher up the street. It's a very live album. With an unrehearsed personal feel that makes a listener feel like they's sittin in on somthin special.. but in this group, when all the mc's gather round and go blow to blow it's all love...
Musically sound and lyrically swift with lines like "Spread the word love dreams can come true", "You cry 'Keepin it Real' but you should cry 'Keepin It Right'" and "The happiest day of my life was my daughter's birth"'Disturbing Behavior', 'Last Night', and 'More Than You Know' alone are worth the price of the cd. But the hook to 'Now I Shine' and Kat Ouano's classically styled, dreamy piano solos are an addded bonus that'll make you glad you took it home with you to keep. Now don't just sit there, go get it!"
Whats the excuse now?

"how many of these are like "I won't give this thing 5 stars cuz it's not 36 chambers, criminal minded or public enemy" and who the hell put the chronic in that list?
mission is dope, nuff said, and if 5000 stupid kids vote and all give nelly and ja fool 5 stars calling him the best 'rappa' eva, i think a quality album like 'mission' deserves everything we can give it...
QUALITY production and nice rhymes... concept tracks, anti consumerist tracks and creative tracks and polished beatmaking... i listen to this album more than the roots...

"I can't forget how I bought this CD... I was chillin at Tower records, just checking some stuff out when I heard the intro to this cd starting... Next came the track 'contagious', and I couldn't figure out who these guys were. I ran upto the counter and told them to sell me whatever CD that they were just playing... So, that's how I picked up this CD.. totally random, and I must say I'm lucky as hell.. if i wasn't at that store at that time, I prolly would've never known these guys.. anyone who happens to run in to this review, do yourself a favor, and pick this CD up. Nice rhymes, beats, etc. etc. They have a flavor that is similiar to the Roots, but that might be because they have a live bassist. All in all, just ill as hell.. definitely wanna see them blow up!!"

"In 2000 I stumbled across the EP to this album in a random record store on a recommendation from a random stranger. I listened to it in the store. First track - Its The.
WOAH.
Crazy, refreshing, melodic, inspired, DOPE hip hop. Been in love with em ever since. Now six years later I still count this as my favorite hip hop i've ever heard. If you havent heard it, check it out. One of a kind.
Just wish these guys put out more music. Anyone know what ever happened to Mission?"

"While obviously influenced by the mighty Roots crew, Mission have still managed to set themselves apart from the highly saturated world of hip hop "bands." Keyboardist Kat, drummer Max MacVeety, and bassist Headnodic all attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. Check out "It's The...," and hear Kat show off her classically trained chops as she opens the track with a Bach piece. Although the last non-MC of the group, Woodstock, doe not play a traditional instrument per say, his work on the sampler helps round out their sound. To compliment the instrumentalists are MCs Moe Pope and Rashaan Ahmad who lace each track with buttery smooth deliveries and insightful lyrics. "Disturbing Behavior" is probably one of the catchiest anti-materialism songs that I've ever heard.Don't sleep on this album. Pick it up now."
