Heavier than a Jenny Craig convention

"Hailing from New Orleans, Louisiana, Crowbar has defined southern sludge metal. Slow, steady, melodic riffs behind even slower, lower vocals, this album, produced by Phil Anselmo of Pantera, sounds like a Black Sabbath 45 played back on 33. I am not sure how one could solo over these riffs; in the spirit of old Metallica, the rhythms in themselves speak more than most "solos." Arranged for power rather than speed, this album will blow you away with its sheer low end ferocity. Few metal albums test woofer capabilities, this one, however, will distort and erupt your speakers faster than the guys in the band can down pitchers of Carlsburg. Soulful, angry and lamentful, Crowbar's self-titled foray will have you pressing the repeat button repeatedly. Excellent production and sound."
Brilliant
