Synopsis

Product Description
Pastoral Folk. Courting Autumn was recorded largely by Pamela on her own throughout New England and is a rustic almanac of autumnal songs burnished with a melancholy mood, wistful vocals, and delicate hand-spun guitar playing.
Since 2003, Wyn Shannon has lived a largely isolated pastoral life as a caretaker in various estates throughout New England and the United Kingdom . With portable recording equipment, she produced Courting Autumn. Her "studios" included an 18th century house museum, a 19th farmhouse and stable, tool sheds, cow barns, sheep farms, a Colonial piggery, bathrooms and basements. The album was mixed in Philadelphia by Producer/Engineer Brian McTear (Espers, Mazarin, Marissa Nadler, Matt Pond PA, Danielson), and comes complete with packaging which Wyn Shannon hand assembled herself.

Musician credits: Pamela Wyn Shannon (voice, guitars, banjo, dulcimer, psaltery, harmonium and percussion); Anna Patton (clarinet, penny whistle); Bill Shontz (recorders); Chris Hale (sitar); Ethan Hazard-Watkins (violin); Liz Knowles (violin, viola, cello); Michelle Kinney (cello) and Stephen Katz (cello).

A Rare Gem

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Pamela Wyn Shannon's "Courting Autumn", like her previous cd "Natures's Bride", is an incredibly rich and gorgeous psych-folk recording by this talented singer-singwriter-guitarist. Her compositions on this cd, such as Tis Rambletide In Ambleside, Pipkin, and Vespertine Autumn, can be pastoral, hypnotic, or toe-tapping! Her live performances are not to be missed. Pamela weaves celtic, folk, Indian, and other flavors into her own musical stew with a distinctive voice and guitar style. I can't recommend her enough!"
