CD ReviewsVery Good Performances Robert Defelice | BOSTON, MA | 07/05/2009 (4 out of 5 stars) "This recent CD by the Basie Band is very good. It has very good audio and was recorded live in Japan. The instrumentalists are excellent, the band sounds like the typical Basie "machine," smooth, driving, and tight. Butch Miles (drummer) is the featured performer and clearly is one of the best big band drummers. There are two vocals by a female whose style is not to my taste. However, I think a better Basie CD is "Swingshift" which is excellent and includes a very good drum piece featuring (again) Butch Miles."
