It will play on a standard CD player and is a beautiful recording, done one year before Count Basie died of pancreatic cancer. A very fine effort. I haven't heard the standard CD version of this recording, but the JVC XRCD version, which I bought, is absolutely exceptional. I have been told by those who have heard both versions, is markedly superior to the non-XRCD CD version."
