CD ReviewsA freakin' great Album! Tom Piecuch | 12/12/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "This is the long awaited debut artist album by Hungarian DJ/Producer Corvin Dalek. It features his very own personal interpretation of the sound he has been pioneering, the sexy sound called 'Wet & Hard'. It is an absolute cracker! and definitely worth it's 5 stars.'Wet & Hard' is the name he's given to the refreshing and controversial eastern european clubsound, which has been created as a lifeboat for young artists wishing to escape the sinking of the techno-trance-titanic. The name not only implies a unique identity, but it also reflects the exciting sound and the philosophy, as well as containing that special spicy ingredient, for which the east has become notoriously famous.'I am a dalek' starts with a mystical and alluring introducion and then slowly unfolds to reveal Corvin and his collaborators. By the time the first break comes, you are already 20 mins into the album! It's a very very groovy album oozing with sexual fantasy, with punchy basslines and reminiscent riffs, which could span generations and i think anyone who has ever liked 70's pink floyd, would probably appreciate the inventiveness of this album too. This great album bridges east and west. It has collaborations with New Order's vocalist Bernard Sumner and Inspiral Carpets bassist Martyn Walsh, as well as introducing his Flesh label colleagues, Jan Kessler, Eiven Major, Mr Sam and Fidelity Kastrow who's performs the poignant and powerful MTW in german, while Corvin literally whips it up. I would highly recommend this album to anyone looking for an artist with imagination and creativity. It's definitely an album to dance or drive (your parents crazy) to and a milestone to this essential sound emerging from the east of Europe. If this is a presentation of things to cum, then the future will be very 'Wet&Hard'. Congratulations Corvin on a freakin' magnificent piece of work." If you like to dance, you?ll love this disc Tom Piecuch | Rochester, NY United States | 02/05/2004 (5 out of 5 stars) "If you like to dance, you'll love this disc, a fresh pounding beat to the classic story, boy meets girl. As one experiences this work of art, that universal story echoes across cultures as it unites the peoples of the world in an orgiastic explosion of sound. Not only do you want to get on your feet and shake, you'll feel like reproducing as it will leave you feeling wet&hard. That is apparently the reason this exciting new genre is called wet&hard and it definitely shines on, "I Am A Dalek" It's great for parties or for you and a special someone(s). It will grab your mind, body, and soul and in the process awaken your Libido. There's a layering of subtleties that range from the not so subtle center spread of Corvin in the insert to the underlying theme running through out. In it, Corvin slowly reveals himself and the energy of the music through the boy's strutting to gain the girls favor. She in turn responds with her wants and desires as the mating ritual dance continues while it pounds at a fever pitch. A slight pause to catch your breath, then the thumping continues until the frenzied climax. After, there is a bit of retrospection, but only briefly, as the joy of the experience permeates you and you are left with an ear to ear smile.I am so excited after listening to this album I'm willing to drive six hours to Montreal to see him perform."
