From the perspective of a novice, this album is excellent!

"My dad tortured me with classical music when I was young. It wasn't until several years later that I came to appreciate it on my own; and I still consider myself to be very much a novice in this genre. With that said, I think this album is excellent!"
Great cd

"Music is so beautiful especially the Ode to Joy! Inspirational as only Beethoven can be."
An astounding 9th Symphony!

"This is one of the finest Beethoven 9th Symphony performances I've ever heard. Unfortunately, we don't get much of it on this disc!
Still, this is a nice sampling of Beethoven's music and if you are easing into Classical Music, this would be a terrific place to begin.
If you wish to hear Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in a complete version, here is a great one:
Beethoven: Symphony No. 9
In any case, this is the story of Beethoven's late period of life and his subsequent death (1827), and a young and adept female copyist (someone who takes the scribbled mess of a composer's score and prints it neatly) who enters into a love-hate personal relationship with the great Maestro. This is one of the most gratifying contemporary films I've seen in years, funny at times, tragic at others. Of course, the writers have taken some expected liberties with actual history but that's okay -- this is entertainment, not a documentary.
Well done! Highly recommended."
