"ok...ok...ok...hold on a second here...something funky coming fast from leftfield...fresh from the jazzalicous vaults of the good ship, 'Cookin', with the sweet-smelling LTJ Bukem at the helm, comes this, the latest in an occasional series of supposedly 'interesting music', entitled enigmatically, and imaginatively, 'Soul Addiction'. Don't be put off by the laughable artwork...therin lies a treasure of rare wonder. Ranging from 'trad' funky-chilled flavas, to fresh and frisky nu-jazz, to blissed psy-house, this album is nothing if not diverse...in a sonic landscape littered with turds from Pete Waterman's infernal herd, albums like this are sometimes buried amongst the sheer 'plethora'(i can think of no other word) of unspeakable arthritic 'dance' compilations...but it is clear that artists like Les Voleurs, their close contemporaries Moomu, and Makoto are tuning in too an all-the-more razzamajazzical style of making people wanna move their feet!!! Go buy. Go buy now."

"The second of cookin's downtempo jazz business, this album suceeds in not only surpassing the first but setting a standard in modern electronica that puts it with Compost and f-com as one of the most potent and consistent labels operating at this time. Each tune is finely produced with an attention to detail that belies the 'real' jazz sensabilities so often searched for by todays producers. Tracks such as the excellent 'cabin fever' by new comers Les Voleurs demonstrate an obsession with quality sounds and a desire to strive always for the refined musicality which sets this record above the glut of fashionable 'chillout' compilations. This is an album for those in the know and those who like their music funky and smoked out. 'Nuff said....."
