Album DescriptionConexion Latina was founded in 1980 by trombone player Rudi Fuesers, who discovered the fascination of salsa music on a trip to Puerto Rico. From the beginning the orchestra was formed of musicians from different Latin American countries including Venezuela, Cuba, Peru, and Puerto Rico--an original mixture that gave the band a unique sound and made it Europe's leading salsa orchestra. The band regularly played at salsa festivals with the likes of Tito Puente, Mongo Santamaria, Rubén Blades, Irakere, Willie Colon, and Eddie Palmieri. Their debut album, Calorcito, is a generous display of rhythmic energy and swing.
