"I have many recordings of bassoon literature in my library. After a few listenings to this disc, I would have to say that it has become one of my favorites. Christopher Millard is a poet and an artist who happens to use the bassoon as his form of expression. He paints with an endless palate of colors, moods, and emotions. His playing is truly a thing of great beauty. The selections are wonderful! The Rota and Wolf-Ferrari are absolutely fantastic works with such beauty and lyricism. The Nussio is like watching fire works on the Fourth of July, constantly exciting and surprising. I had a permanent smile while lstening to this disc. I can't recommend it highly enough. Five stars are not enough."

"Millard plays with sensitivity and has a wonderfully deep, sonorous tone. The orchestra plays with agility and grace; their timing and sense of place in the ensemble are superb. The repertoire on this recording is not as well known as a lot of bassoon music, but that should be no deterrent. The Wolf-Ferrari especially is a gorgeous piece that you will fall in love with almost immediately. Even if you are not normally a fan of bassoon music, you will love this recording.Highly recommended to just about anyone."
