"Ok, maybe just one of the top five. Some recorded performances may be perfectly in tune, well-engineered, and perfectly dull. This one breathes liveliness into pieces that are often recorded in a perfunctory manner. I heard this when I was in college, and still own the disk. When I hear other versions of these pieces on the radio, I think, "Why did they bother?" Janigro captured the passion behind the etude-like form of Vivaldi's melodies, and his soloists soared without distancing themselves from the groove of the ensemble."
