"These are the most relaxing versions of Beethoven's String Trios I've ever heard. But, they're also very good too. They remind me of what it might have been like back in Beethoven's time. Music made for the home, not the concert hall. The production reminds me of the Medici Quartet Beethoven cycle on the Nimbus label. Well maybe not that much reverb. Just wonderful versions and a bargin too!
As Fanfare's Jerry Dubins writes: If you prefer a lower-voltage approach, one that de-emphasizes the shock and awe, and presents these trios more within the well-mannered context of Haydn's and Mozart's drawing-room music, the present readings with the Zurich String Trio are, I can honestly say, among the best of that particular class. So, strongly recommended, if you like your early Beethoven decaffeinated.
Thank you Zurich String Trio and thank you Brilliant Classics for such a great price. Bravo!"
