Import labels do right by jazz fans

"it should drive every jazz fan nuts that small import labels take the time to compile and release jazz sessions the way they should be . when I first heard that there were a number of quartet sides cut by waldron and mclean I figured I'd have to buy 3 or 4 cd's to get all of them . well , here they all are , on a 2 cd set , reasonably priced and sounding fine . as for the actual contents , these sessions pre-date mclean's coming into his own as a soloist , so I've docked them a notch accordingly . still this stuff is definitely worth having if you're a fan of either artist , and I can't stress enough how terrific it is that labels like definitive , fresh sounds , and lonehill are around to serve the needs of jazz fans . and a big boo to the folks at concord/ojc for not doing this kind of thing on a regular basis ."
