"S. Ballestracci has a very old fashion way of playing. Let's say sounds like an old record of Hans Martin Linde. In the 60s that would have been ok, but non in 1996. I give 1 star to this cd just as a tribute to the great H.M. Linde. Everything else is just unacceptable: harsh sound obtain by over blowing the instrument. In that way the pitch is always a little bit sharp, and there is not micro (an macro) dynamic flexibility in the tone, everything is just static. Constant vibrato (a little discrete but all the time) and no concept at all of rubato. All of this make a very sad and inexpressive cocktail. The ornamentation is at the same level than the structural melody, very far away of any concept of freedom, just stiff as everything else. Sad because there are many young Italians recorder player that should be given more space, and the little room there is, to bring to life the Italian recorder sonatas played by Italians or Latin's, is just taken by such a dull and mediocre Interpretation."
