Delectable Beethoven

"Maybe these performers don't elicit the last ounce of pathos from the trios as some ensembles, but that was never their intent. These are simply the best performances of the trios available. Other groups (e.g. Stern/Istomin/Rose) may outshine Kempff, et al. here or there, but no other ensemble conveys the joy of the early works and the sublime beauty of the later works with such light-heartedness and dignity as Kempff, Fournier, and Szeryng. In short, this is joyous music-making. Buy this set!"
