CD Reviews

Electro pop music for the intellectual and the sentimental

"This is by far, my favorite Color theory album. It was also the first album I ever bought from the band. From then on, I've been hooked. Though it is not purely electronic(mostly piano-driven)it still has a lot of emotion that most synthpop acts lack. With emotion-filled lyrics and intricate chord progressions, Color Theory is definately worth checking out."
Tuesday Song Takes Color Theory to Next Level

"After hearing the first album, "Sketches in Grey," and then listening to this album, you can definitely see how Color Theory's style has matured. Fhe first album, "Sketches in Grey" is wonderful in of itself, with a lot of memorable pieces (see my review of that album on Amazon for more). However, "Tuesday Song" expands upon the potential promised in "Sketches," and in a big way.First off, you will notice that this album has a lot more synth than the first. However, Brian never loses the piano, and that's one of the definitive factors in his music. You can strip away all the synthesizers, replace the major melody with only a piano, and you would still have a great song. The layers of synth built upon the piano melodies on this album create a wonderful effect. All of the songs on this release are great, but just to single a few out, a few favorites include "Outside Girl," "Just Who I Am," "Heart Like A Doll," "Forget His Voice," and "Softer Than Sleep." All of these songs have memorable tunes you find yourself humming in your mind, with those ever-meaningful lyrics which set Color Theory's music apart. I can sit down and listen to this entire album from start to end and never have the urge to skip a song. These songs are about life, and love, and how people act or try to act while experiencing these things. "Outside Girl" deals with the difficulties, and sometimes impossibilites, involved with getting back together, no matter how much it looks like people have changed on the outside. "It could take a week to remember/Why it never worked for us before." "Forget His Voice" is an emotional song about one man trying to cope with his girlfriend's affair. "Softer Than Sleep" is a song about how that one special person can totally change your life. "And you touch me/softer than sleep... and it colors all that I do/with a touch of you..."Heartfelt music, from the melodies to the vocals and lyrics. If you haven't heard this album yet, you are missing out."
