Not Quite 20 Years Of Waiting, but it was Worth The Wait!

"NEW CD BY COLLIN RAYE FOR THOSE WHO LISTEN TO COUNTRY RADIO BUT HAVE NOT HEARD THE NEWS!!!!!
Current Collin Raye fans and fans of county music in general will want to check out this ballad-heavy CD. Collin's current release "I Know That's Right" jump-starts twelve enjoyable songs. He's found a new label/home and his voice sounds better than ever. With one song written by Collin, one co-writen by Collin and Melissa Manchester (!), and three deserving cover tunes, Twenty Years and Change was well worth the wait. Now, let's just hope it's not going to be another half decade before the next CD!
1. I Know That's Right - Be true to yourself and you'll never go wrong, you'll know deep down in your heart that something is "right" or it isn't. It's that gut feeling we all experience from time to time. It's about time someone did a song about this - thanks Collin for taking that initiative!
2. Hurricane Jane - Finally a weather song that fits the year 2005 to a T! All kidding aside, this is a fun one to listen to and am glad it's a good uptempo get up and dance song. The song compares a wild woman to a hurricane. :)
3. The Search Is Over - OMIGOD I love this one, loved it back in the 1980s and am reloving it now!!!!!!!!!! Countryfied version, a definite winner.
4. Forgotten - My pick for another single, a thoughtful ballad about how the memories linger on after someone you love has passed away.
5. You're Not Drinking Enough - A strong ol' time country song, I miss those ones by Collin. OK yes I also like the pop influence, but this one is awesome and shows off his vocal ability and I wish he'd do more like this one.
6. Josephine - I had to listen to it closely to realize the meaning of the song.....and who was singing it.......a personal favorite since it's also my gramma's name and I enjoy history from the Civil War era. This song is contemporary enough to fit in today's situation.
7. Heart - Would do great on pop radio too, I like the beat - nice lyrics too.
8. All I Can Do Is Love You - written by Raye and Manchester, a sweet song with pared-down instruments - sounds like only a guitar or two to accompany him in parts , very "unplugged" - share it with a special someone :) maybe a good wedding song for walking down the aisle
9. Let Your Love Flow - a different take, don't expect a perfect replica of the Bellamy Brothers on this one - Collin takes it and makes it more "modern" in sound. The first time I heard it, I nearly skipped to the next track. But then I played it again, and again, and found myself singing along.
10. Twenty Years And Change - a haunting melody, written by Collin himself, though provoking, give it a listen.
11. We'll Be Allright - A pleasant tune that would also do well on adult contemporary radio, it's another personal choice for a single release - but nothing surprising here, is like many of his tamer love songs
12. It's Only Make Believe - Conway himself would be proud.
Overall: A-
I added the minus only because it would be nice to hear some more songs from the man with the heavenly voice!!!"
My favorite CD this year

"I've missed Collin's music. I thought the cd was good but wish it had more ballads which is where I think he shines. I hope it's a good seller so we get more!"
Hated it first, loving it now.

"I am a great fan of Collin. The first songs I heard from him was Love Me. Since then I listened to every album and I like his talent to produce a great ballad with amazing lyrics.
Last week I received the cd and put it in my car radio and started to listen. I found myself skipping tracks to find the 'well known' ballads, and was disappointed to find only track 3 that comes close to 'In my life'. After all 12 tracks I was hugely disappointed and throwed the cd on the backseat.
A few days later I realized that I was thinking about some songs in my mind. Strangely enough the cd caught my curiosity and it went back in the cdplayer and played it at least 3 times a day since then.
This cd is something different and is very addictive. Raye has produced a good album again. Give every song a chance and you will be surprised by some of them.
A Collin Raye fan."

"The songs that Collin Raye chooses to record are ones that every human being can relate to. Words that turn into personal messages that only the listener can truly interpret. His voice is easy to listen to and his music is never disappointing. My personal favorite on this CD is "We'll Be Alright." There's a message in that one for EVERYONE no matter what circumstance surrounds them.
