Would have been a whole lot better with just a bit more care

"Before finally establishing himself as a hitmaker in the U.S. in the mid 1970's, Cliff Richard had been a potent force on the British pop charts for nearly 20 years. While Cliff did have some limited chart success in the U.S. in the early 1960's he was just never quite able to come up with the breakthrough hit he needed to make a splash here in the States. "Cliff Richard: 30 Years of Hits" presents 25 of Cliff's biggest records from both the British and U.S. pop charts. You will quickly discover what a gifted and versatile performer he is and will begin to understand why he had so much success for such a long period of time.
"Cliff Richard: 30 Years of Hits" gives you a chance to sample at least a dozen of Cliff's biggest British singles including his unique and satisfying renditions of Ruth Browns' "Lucky Lips" and Tommy Edwards big hit "It's All In The Game". I also loved "Congratulations" and wonder why in the world it never became a huge hit in the U.S. In 1976, Cliff Richard signed with Elton John's Rocket records and finally had his first big U.S. hit record. "Devil Woman" climbed all the way to #6 that summer. Over the next several years more hits would follow including "We Don't Talk Anymore", "Dreaming", "A Little In Love" as well as his remake of the classic tune "Daddy's Home" in 1982. All of these tunes are included here. In addition, you will also find Cliff's outstanding duet with Olivia Newton-John. "Suddenly" was a huge record back in the Fall of 1980.
What frustrates me so much about "Cliff Richard: 30 Years of Hits" is that it could have been so much better. There are absolutely no liner notes which drive collectors like myself crazy! Having said that this is still a mighty fine collection. Recommended listening.

"This great sounding disc is chock full of every hit one could want with great sound quality. It might be short on liner notes so buy a book or look on the net, it's still complete and great."
Why the QUICK FADE on 'Give A Little Bit More' ??

"First off, I was very surprised to find a collection with the 3 singles from the 1980 album I'M NO HERO. To my knowledge, this is a first! It was great to find a CD with his biggest U.S hits all on one disc. I'll have to give the first 16 or 17 tracks a listen, as they are older than I am.
The sound quality is quite good on this disc. However, the track 'A Little In Love' sounds like it's a slightly different mix than I remember and 'Give A Little Bit More' ends quite abruptly with a FAST 3-4 second fadeout -- at least 10 seconds early. WHY? Did anyone listen to this before production started?
It's too bad the out-of-print, U.S. release Cliff Richard Collection from the mid 70's through the early 80's wasn't more complete. Maybe that's why it is no longer made. I know the EMI-America label (non existant since around 1987) had some bizzare licensing issues with other artists on that label in the past.
If you're looking for his U.S. hits (like I was), you should be happy. As mentioned previously, DON'T bother looking for any lyrics, liner notes, or anything else. The packaging and the disc itself, screams bootleg or cd-r."
