"Having heard some of the performances from this set on the radio at various times, I decided to go pick it up. It is just wonderful. Muzio Clementi (1752-1832) was a worthy composer in the time of Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven. I find this music to have the same sparkle and late classical punch as do Haydn's later compositions. The set contains two overtures, six symphonies, and the C major piano concerto. If you like Haydn, if you like the music of some of his lesser well-known contemporaries such as Franz Krommer, if you want something unfamiliar that is as good as or perhaps even a few notches better than the efforts of, say Joseph Martin Kraus or Carlos Baguer, I think this will be just the ticket. PS--I presume the performances of the symphonies are the same as on the ASV set also listed by Amazon, which received a rave review from reb77. This repackaging is an even better bargain, with a sparkling performance of the concerto added as a bonus."
