Product DescriptionA lovely collection. Released by Musical Heritage Society in the '90s, it was sourced from the Chandos catalog in England. Recorded at Ulster Hall - Belfast - between 1987 and 1992, the engineering is impeccable and the Ulster Orchestra, though not truly French, seems comfortable with Debussy's idiom - no doubt owing to conductor Tortelier's knowledge of the music. The capstone of this set are several delightful, but less well known works on disc four. For instance - there's Debussy's three movement piano concerto which he chose to entitle "Fantasie for piano and orchestra". But, what's in a name? I highly recommend this collection, especially at the Heritage price - - the Chandos issue will cost you considerably more. (Amazon customer)
