Elgar's Salut d'amour performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra under Andrew Davis opens this two-CD set. After that, we go on a bumpy ride over performances of drastically varying quality. The "Poco Allegretto" from Brahms's Symphony No. 3 under Christoph von Dohnányi and the Cleveland Orchestra is breathtaking. Throughout the program there are a number of bite-sized editions of selections apparently deemed too long to sit through in their natural state. These leave the listener strangely empty. And this disc also contains a very weird arrangement of "Somewhere" from Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story, scored for two pianos and percussion, played by Guher and Suher Pekinel and Peter Sadio.
