Says who?

"I'm not sure who chose this particular compilation, or what standard they used, but it really doesn't come close to representing these boys at their best. Of the (only) ten songs offered, perhaps only one (the Jug of Punch) could be considered one of their best. The songs can all be found on other Clancy compilations, with a slew of better songs accompanying them."
What a joke!

"Ten songs! What a joke! What a low-value compilation of a great group. The record company ought to be ashamed. They probably wonder why no one buys the group's music anymore -- because the company releasing the music has no real interest in the music or honoring it or pleasing the fans. They have not even figured out that they are losing money doing such shoddy compilations. When they do, we will be able to buy real albums -- rereleases of albums or serious compilations of music released by these legends of folk music."
Budget Release

"When this budget release came out from Columbia Legacy in 2000, 10- to 12-track CDs were the norm. Since then there have been many more Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem CD compilations released with upwards of 25 tracks. And for not all that much more money.
Even so, for those wishing to sample the group for the first time that brought traditional Irish music to North American audiences, not to mention their trademark Aran sweater (which, a gift from the Clancy's mother, they wore on their first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1961), this little budget release will do just fine.
It contains a mix of studio and "live" performances of some of their most memorable tunes from their highly-successful albums. The sound is excellent, and in the insert is a re-listing of the tracks showing the year each was recorded, the album from which it was culled, and a catalogue of other releases in the Super Hits series.
As it says in the brief liner notes "If you're looking to become acquainted with Irish folk music, start here.""
