Synopsis
Amazon.com Further evidence Sweden has more to offer than Roxette and a topnotch bikini team: Citizen Bird. Hailing from the port town of Gothenburg, the psychedelic rock five-piece (which goes under the name Silverbullit in Europe) has soaked in a staggering array of influences ranging from Los Angeles hippie gods the Doors to New York electro-punks Suicide, and crafted an album that is exquisitely original. Citizen Bird's second, self-titled release is a frantic, shambled thrill ride, driven by rippling Hammond organs, slow-burning rhythms, and Spiritualized-inspired haziness. In a previous life--OK, on their 1998 debut, Silverbullit--these guys were merely nervy Stooges copycats. But here songs like "Magnetic City" and "Glory" make them sound like the Hives on acid. And, yes, that is a major compliment. --Aidin Vaziri Similarly Requested CDs

CD ReviewsGood, but could be better Zachary I. Burgman | Newark, DE | 04/08/2004 (3 out of 5 stars) "I saw these guys in Philly when the opened for Cato Salsa Experience who opened for The Soundtrack of Our Lives. Pretty good billing huh? Citizen Bird really impressed me as a live band with their neurotic lead singer and huge psychodellic sounds. I never wanted to buy a cd after seeing a show more than after this. When I got home I was a bit dissapointed. The sounds is a bit muffled and it seems to lack some of the crazy energy that I know the band can put out. However, I would definitly see the band again and would buy their next album." Keyboards up front rpopstar | 07/02/2002 (4 out of 5 stars) "lots of suicide and stranglers. traces of cult, radiohead, floyd circa '69 and mercury rev circa 99'. solid songs, excellent playing... most interesting rock album i've heard this year" Citizen Bird - self-titled (Stinky) Mike Reed | USA | 03/01/2008 (4 out of 5 stars) "Looks to be the first and only (so far) CD by this talented Swedish psychedelic pop five piece. This title really caught me off guard. Why aren't these guys better known? After discovering this posting on Amazon, I couldn't resist ordering a copy of this CD, a true keeper - if you have the closet space. Tracks that had me playing this CD over several times after I first got it were "Glory" - what it had developed into anyway, the awesomely upbeat "Magnetic City" (possibly the best cut on the entire disc), the tripping "This Is The Place", the band's namesake "Citizen Bird" and "Knucklebuster". Personnel: Simon Ohlsson-guitar, keyboards & vocals, Jukka Rintamaki-bass, keyboards & vocals, Andreas Nilsson-guitar, Jon Olmeskog-keyboards and Anders Gustafsson-drums. Should appeal to fans of Spiritualized, King Black Acid, My Bloody Valentine, Spacemen 3 and Low Flying Owls."
