CD ReviewsMetal for the coming end torquemada | beirut, lebanon | 02/17/2007 (5 out of 5 stars) "in a world of crumbling human values and dead morals, cianide is the
voice of torture within all of us who dare not make a change for fear of being crushed by the tide to be resisted. go with the flow? die trying to make a difference? is death worth it? is there another way? questions are left unanswered while the oppressive machine of death doom and destruction (ha!) splashes its way through a gore ridden landscape where only one thing is certain: human race has failed. human race deserves its plagues and its (irreversible?) decent into neurosis, chaos, down to a grotesque demise. slow guitars and rumbling bass carry low atonal growls across fuming fields of waste and death, man's culmination of his own 'modernity'. if there's anything that would paint with sounds, a world in its death throes, it's the album closer "second life" and its mindblowing outro where guitars and drums slowly collapse into a sonic sludge of nihilistic oppression. "no chance for a second life"... this is one of those few remaining bands who still put content into the foreground of their creative process. lyrics, thus, are remarkably visual, yet remain striking in their simplicity. the content is then encased in sober, unpretentious musicianship which is unaware of its greatness in delivering without pompous arrangements, solos or over the top production. Hail!" |
