CD ReviewsChunk, terribly underrated rapper Above the Clouds | Australia | 06/22/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "I've always liked Chunk, and have felt he was pretty slept on overall. If I had to choose one album of his, it would be this one. From a truly classic period of gangsta rap, he brought this his fourth LP, Break Em' Off A Chunk.
Man, what can I say... Production by Sean T, which he made even better than his own albums. The G-Man Stan was in the mix too, and produced one song but also helped with other production aspects. I think Sean T's tracks were the perfect match for Chunk, and he definately pulled out some of his very, very best. So many funky guitar lics and much smooth g-funk. As for Chunk, he never fails to bring the funk, and this album is no exception. His whole style of rapping appeals to me, he was never over the top, or trying too hard, he just always did his thing and he's tight, with a voice and delivery that are unique to him. This album I feel, was on another level from his previous releases, definately partly due to the time and era factor, but the beats were awesome and Chunk is on top of his game. If you can find it now don't pass it up. EPA classic." |
