"Strange to compare this to David Hykes, Steve Reich, Pauline Oliveros, etc.

These people experiment in god knows how many arcane ways, but Twining is working very tonally. True, he creates tonalities you've never heard anywhere else; for some people that's hard to like, but none of the people in that list have done it this way (last I checked, no one has). Trained musicians are sometimes irritated by this music, especially those with "perfect pitch". But it's backed up by lots of rigorous theory, it's not arbitrary- it's *very* precise- and it affects sensitive ears in ways that can't be compared to anything else.

There is some harmonic singing in there, and we've all heard that, but it's only *one of* the tools he uses to showcase the tonalities he's playing with.

Get the album and encourage this man to make more!"
