"I came across this album purely by accident. I had been backpacking around Ireland for a week when I finally ended up in Cork. Just before I was to catch my bus back to Dublin I ran to a music store to get a tape for the trip. That's when I picked up a copy of Prosperous. It had been exiled to the unwanted cassette discount bin. Not knowing anything about Christy Moore I bought it. I will never forget that bus ride across Ireland with Moore providing the background music. It was perfect. This album manages to be both traditional and modern. The songs are sung with a vitality and personality that makes them seem both touching and fun. I highly recommend my favorite song on the album "Tribute to Woody", a tribute to Woody Guthrie, it is the best travelling song I've ever come across. I challenge anyone to find an album so full of tradition, soul, and fun. If you've never heard Christy Moore I hope you take the same chance that I did. Who knows you might fall in love with this album too."
A great early album in the Irish folk revival

"Christy Moore with all his pals from Planxty, zipping through a great set of Irish trad material. Now can you go wrong? (Answer: you can't. This is a great record.)"

"Christy Moore and the guys. They would go on to form Planxty. This a great recording / CD. You can't go wrong by picking up a copy. The songs are all great. Picking favorites isn't easy, but I'll give it go - Tribute to Woody and The Raggle taggle Gipsies; Tabhair dom do lamh. If you like traditional / folk music? You'll love this one!"
