Amazon.comThis singer-songwriter-guitarist's second CD for Rebel Records hits some high spots on his original tunes, but levels off when it falls back on a variety of often-sung bluegrass songs ("Nashville Blues," "I'm Ready If You're Willin'") and not-so-often heard country tunes like "So Afraid of Losing You Again." Jones sings with a warm, deep voice, shown off best on the title cut, which he penned with Harley Allen. His "Fork in the Road" and "Bridge to Portsmouth" also bear repeated listening, driven by the smooth, biting dobro work of Rob Ickes. Jones is a tasteful guitarist whose occasional solos find pockets between Ickes's dobro and Ron Block's fine banjo work. The record remains a pleasant, though undemanding, listen without quite enough edge to cut through brain-pan grease. --Brian Hollander
