"I have listened to several afro-peruvian cds. Known for great rhythm driven by the cajon on all of them, one can see how the master percussionist (Chocolate) is truly the master of this instrument. He talks to us--shows us the language of the cajon. Not only is there the cajon on this cd, but the congas make their contributions as well. Saxophone?? The saxophone player only plays three notes at the end of the last song. This is the only time you will hear the saxophone. Track #2 is AWESOME!!! He really demonstrates his skills here. This cd is STRICTLY drumming, which, contrasts with the other AFro-peruvian cds that I have (Peru Negro, Lo Mejor...Souls of Black Peru, many Susana Baca cds). So for those of you who are looking for singing and other instruments, you won't find it on this cd. Personally, I feel those in the jazz world, especially the percussionists, can appreciate this cd. It involves improvising and shows us what it means to never be off beat. AMAZING!!"
