Good songs, BAD repackage

"I've been a fan of these songs since they first came out in '62 & '63. But when I look at a repackage like this, I wonder... WHY? This contains 10 songs grabbed seemingly at random from the 2 original albums, and features the cover art from the 2nd album with a new (and less-appealing) lettering than on the originals. Wouldn't it have made more sense to just put ALL 24 songs in the proper sequence and issue a "twofer"? My suggestion is, if this is your thing, skip this, go for the originals (but buyer beware-- this is not the only inexplicable repackage of this material out there!)."
A happy christmas tradition.

"This collection of songs by the chipmunks is always a favorite around my house for the holidays. It has a very personal story incoperated into the collection of songs for those that grew up with the chipmunks or know there stories. A nice way to complete the holidays around my home was to play my favorite group of singers."
Chipmunks - Great! This album - Eh....

"We all love the Chipmunks. Having one of their Xmas albums handy during the holiday season is a MUST! However, this is not the album to buy. There are lots of them floating around.
I think there are really two Chipmunks Xmas songs which are THE classics: The Chipmunk Song (obviously) and their take on the Twelve Days of Christmas. Inexplicably, the 12 Days of Xmas is not on this album. So I would go back, find an album with both of these classics and buy that one."
After all these years, Alvin still wants a hula-hoop

"These are the Christmas songs that remind me of being a kid waiting for Santa Claus. Hearing Alvin, Simon & Theodore sing "The Chipmunk Song" makes me feel good. There is just something about harmony, even if it is done by speeding up a recording, that I happen to like. Of course, it is hard for the Chipmunks to sing all of these songs without Alvin feeling the urge to cause a little trouble. But it is not a Chipmunks album if David Seville is not yelling "ALVIN!" at some point. Little kids also love it when Rudolph joins in with the singing "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer." It is also rather touching to hear Seville do an earnest rendition of "White Christmas." If you grew up on the Chipmunks, then this one will bring back memories."
