"I'll admit being a bit skeptical when I saw the name of the band and the project's title, although it did have the subtitle of "Fine Bluegrass Gospel." Was I ever in for a surprise! Upon slipping the disc in my player and punching up the first cut, I was treated to some of the most wonderful and uplifting gospel music I have heard in a while. "Terri" is Terri Argot Gore and the Chigger Hill Boys consist primarily of Mike Richards (mandolin), Rodney Lay, Jr. (guitar), and Ricky Gore (bass). The group is rounded out with Brian Sterling (banjo) and Al Goll (resonator guitar) and an assortment of guests. And yes, there is a Chigger Hill located near Burkesville, Ky., and it is from there the band takes its name.



Nine of the eleven selections on this project are original material cowritten mostly by Richards and Lay, and if you're an artist looking for new tunes in the gospel vein, this CD is a great source. Ms. Gore's voice is quite pleasing and the vocal harmonies are very tight. Highlights include "It's More Than I Have Here," "Now I Can See," and "When He Loves Me Most."



The band is instrumentally quite competent, but there are no flashy speed breaks here - just good gospel from Chigger Hill. BF"
