"Imagine the surprise of this lifelong Chet fan to open his Amazon recommendations and discover a new album of old Chet tunes! What a thrill to be hearing, in some cases for the first time, recordings that are older than I am, and I've been a fan since the early 1950's. Chet Atkins' music evolved considerably duirng the fantastic career he enjoyed. From the 1940's through until the beginning of the new millenium, Chet's music continued to change, though it was always unmistakably Chet. This album captures what I like to call the "show-off years," that time while he was trying to gain more and more attention. For those who don't know it, Chet was an amazing fiddle player and his artistry on that instrument can be heard on this album as well as his unique guitar stylings. The album features, among other recordings, transcriptions of old radio programs. Pardon the cliche, but it must be said... "No Chet Atkins collection is complete without recordings from these early years.""
