CD Reviews

Awesome

"My late husband introduced me to Checkfield many years ago and I treasure the two CD's I own: A View from the Edge and Distant Thunder.
Whenever I'm feeling the effects of stress or can't sleep I put on A View from the Edge and all my troubles just seem to float away on the wings of the music. I feel relaxed, rejuvenated, free as a bird. Listening to A View from the Edge is almost a religious experience for me!
Hitchhiker is one of my favorites. It makes me think of California and driving up the Pacific Coast Highway--I don't know why, since I live in Indianapolis.
To Look for America is so sweet it's almost painful--it never fails to bring tears to my eyes.
This CD passes the litmus test I assign to all music: it takes me away from myself, my time, and my place on the earth. It delivers me to another plane altogether."
What a let down

"This CD was a complete let down.I have Water,Wind and Stone from 1986(and have owned it since then). That was a GREAT CD!!!I just got this one(View from the edge) in July 2004.
Whatever they were thinking between 1986 and this recording...it did not work.Way too much focus on lame artsy singing and feel good music.Water, Wind and Stone was a great New Age, relaxing CD without the words getting in the way. If I could sub out the lyrics in this CD, it might be a keeper. Otherwise, I wish I would have passed on this one. This makes me very scared to try another Checkfield CD.If anyone has them all, can you please let me know which one(s) if any are similar to Water, Wind and Stone? Thanks and happy music to you all!"
Good Final Recording!

"The duo of Checkfield recorded this final project together. They made their first vocal effort with "Hitchhiker", though they made vocals on an unreleased track, "Going Home". I like the other tracks "Slow Dancing" & "And She Cries". Overall, the CD lacks the flair of their previous collaborations. But, it's still a solid effort. Buy it if you can find it!"
