CD ReviewsILL EMCEE, GOOD DEBUT... A Young Producer | 02/06/2008 (4 out of 5 stars) "Chase Phoenix is a very good rapper, that said not everyone has a solid debut album. There are definitely some hits and some misses with this one. The song 'A Thousand Apologies' stands as some of the dopest underground rap i've heard in a while, along with 'Twenty Something' and 'Secret Agents feat. aesop rock' (and that's something considering mostly I have been listening to almost only underground hip-hop for the past 2 years).
Granted those tracks and a couple others are ill (Most People Know, In Crowd, Thought Wrong, Patience, -some other good ones) hearing how incredible the first few songs I mentioned earlier in the review were... some of the "misses" on the album could definitely be much better. There's production by Dub-L, Blockhead, and Baby Dayliner who are all great, If you like a lot of Def Jux artists then you'll probably really like some Chase P. If you don't feel like copping the whole album, I'd still recommend buying a few mp3's cause it's worth it. Trust me you won't find any of this for free with any P2P sharing programs and it's always good to support the artist. (my rating 4.5 / 5 stars)" |
