A Celebration of Romance

"The noted jazz singer Charmaine Clamor gives us a recording that celebrates her roots in the Philippines and the romantic tradition they call "harana". The recording is a seduction. Charmaine has one of those rich dark voices that makes you want to cuddle on the couch and drink red wine with someone you love. For those of us who don't speak one of the many Filipino languages there are helpful translations. Even without them, however, you can feel what these songs are about, because Charmaine Clamor has one of the most expressive voices anywhere. It goes right to your soul. The word "beautiful" is used to describe many things. This celebration of romance, in my opinion, is what beautiful sounds like."
