(5 out of 5 stars)
"The title "In a Soulful mood" is misleading. The CD contains Parker's HOTTEST solos ever. Moose The Mooche, Yardbird Suite, Orinthology, A Night In Tunsia - are all classics recorded when Parker first moved to California in 1946. Loverman and The Gypsy - were recorded in the sessions when Parker collapsed and was later hospitalized for a few months. His playing shows his illness but is still magnificent.
Then come the string of even greater classics with Miles Davis - Klact-Oveeseds-Tene, Scrapple From The Apple, My Old Flame, Out Of Nowhere, Don't Blame Me - each is a jazz standard and displays Parker's best qualities.
All 26 tracks on this CD are absolute must haves for any follower of jazz. This is THE one CD not to miss by Parker - because of the top quality of all track, plus the great remastering job.
100 stars."
