CD Copyright Sercurity Tightens

"Firstly this box set is great value for money and has more tracks than the Verve complete metal box 3 cd set with similar good sound quality for the period. So feel confident that Definitive Records have done a good job here.
Interestingly one of the disc's in this set does not play on my home stereo but plays fine on my laptop computer. I recently had a similar issue with one disc from the Mingus Atlantic box set. At first I thought I was getting faulty manufactured disc's but after reading another Amazon reviews comments I am sure this is a cd copyright sercurity issue. Let's hope this issue resolves itself over time.
Back to the Parker box set. It's on a cheap label but the quality is all there. Buy and enjoy!"
Sequencing & sound trumps fancy packaging

"This contains all of Bird's master takes on Verve between 47' and 54', over five hours worth on 4 discs. Chronilogically sequenced so that his stints with strings are spread out making them a joy to hear, everything stays fresh, not too much of this or that, stylistically. The sound quality is tops, Definitive may be second, only to JSP with regard to meticulous transfers, etc... Everything sounds very natural. The notes and packaging are OK, the focus here is the music, as it should be. His list of sidemen, reads like a who's who of swing and bop allstars. This set, in combination with JSP's 5 disc package Charlie Parker: A Studio Chronicle 1940-1948, might be the only Bird that a casual enthusiast ever need. These sets clearly illustrate the legacy of Charlie Bird Parker.
