Album DescriptionBD Jazz is a new label which offers listeners an introduction to some of the greatest jazz musicians of our time through a two disc set of their most-loved songs. Additionally, a 16 page illustrated book is included, which offers an insight into their lives and music. This specially formatted piece is a must-have for jazz fans as well as jazz neophytes trying to learn about the genre. Charlie Parker, aka ?Bird?, is recognized as one of the originators of bebop, along with Dizzy Gillespie and Bud Powell. Parker?s collaborations with Gillespie in 1945 set the jazz world on fire with their musical complexity and evolution of the jazz idiom. Parker also led a quintet in 1947 that included Miles Davis, Max Roach, Duke Jordan and Tommy Potter. Unfortunately Parker died at 34 due to a life of excesses, but his early passing has only served to enhance his stature in the jazz community, creating a legend that lives to this day.
